The moment South Africa clinched victory in the second Super Over.
1. The Proteas Powerplay & Middle-Order Stumble
Sent in to bat on a surface that looked pristine for batting, South Africa started with blistering intent. The new-look opening pair of veteran Quinton de Kock (59 off 35) and the dynamic Ryan Rickelton (61 off 38) made a mockery of the powerplay. They stitched together a massive 114-run partnership in just 10.3 overs, utilizing the sweep shot effectively against the spinners.
However, the introduction of Rashid Khan changed the game. He broke the partnership and bamboozled the middle order. The Afghan seamers, particularly Fazalhaq Farooqi, executed wide yorkers brilliantly at the death, restricting SA to 187/6 when 200+ looked certain.
2. Gurbaz's Lone Hand & Final Over Chaos
Afghanistan's chase was a one-man show: Rahmanullah Gurbaz. Smashing 84 off just 42 balls (including 7 sixes), he kept Afghanistan ahead of the rate while wickets tumbled around him. His dismissal in the 17th over to Lungi Ngidi sparked a panic.
The final over bowled by Rabada was pure theatre: a no-ball six, two run-outs, and a final ball run-out attempting a bye that left the scores perfectly tied at 187.
3. The Double Super Over Saga
Super Over 1 (The Tie): Azmatullah Omarzai smashed 17 runs for Afghanistan. South Africa looked defeated until Tristan Stubbs hit a last-ball six to tie the scores again!
Super Over 2 (The Win): South Africa batted first, scoring 23 runs thanks to Miller and Stubbs. In reply, Keshav Maharaj held his nerve against Gurbaz, securing a 4-run victory.
